My 2023 reading list

This year, I’m an embarking on a new reading challenge. And the best part?

All of my books are already picked for me!

A couple weeks ago a friend and I were talking about our reading goals for the coming year, and she mentioned her goal is to read through the unread books on her bookshelf before buying any new ones (such an inspiration, I know!).

And this conversation inspired me to do the same!

Shortly after, I went to my bookshelf and pulled about 14 unread or unfinished books. As the days went on and Christmas went by, I found a few more unread or unfinished books (along with a few gifted to me during the holiday break) which brought my total to 26 books!

Without a doubt, this is the most ambitious reading goal I’ve set yet. I’ve been a reader most of my life, however, I’m someone who takes their time with a book. My typical reading pace is about a book or two month. It looks like I have a really busy year of reading ahead of me!

I love to read and books are one of my favorite things to collect (a hobby passed onto me from my dad who is also an avid reader and collector of books). I love this challenge, though, because it allows me to “shop” my bookshelf and encourages me take a break from buying books. (However, it will be SO hard not giving into my desire to buy a new book, especially with Emily Henry’s new release coming out this spring). But I guess that gives me new motivation to read even more. The faster the read, the closer I am to diving into new titles!

Above all, I’m looking forward to a year of reading filled with variety. My 2023 book stack has everything from a Samuel Adams biography gifted to me for Christmas from my dad to Michelle Obama’s latest release to a few thrillers that I’ve borrowed from friends and haven’t gotten to yet (so sorry I’ve been hoarding your books for so long!)

And a quick disclaimer: The only exception to this challenge is I will allow myself to buy or borrow books outside of what I own for book club.

Without further ado, here is my 2023 reading list (also listed in no particular order):
